In 1750 within the river area of The Gambia in West Africa, Omoro Kinte and his spouse, Binta, have their first youngster, a son named Kunta. Kunta is educated in Mandinka customs and is a devoted scholar who goals of touring to the college. After being kidnapped and captured by the Koros, Kunta is bought to British slave merchants in 1767 and is shipped to America. In Annapolis, Maryland, he’s bought to a Virginia planter named John Waller and is given the slave identify Toby. Kunta strongly resists his new identify and enslavement. He depends on the sensible counsel of Fiddler, an assimilated slave and complicated musician who has been assigned to coach him.
